Twitter introduces “Fleet”, a feature similar to Instagram and Snapchat Stories

Yesterday, being March 4th, 2020, Kayvon Beykpour, Global Product Lead, Twitter, released an announcement of a new feature called Fleet, being tested on the the twitter app. This announcement was also made on Twitters official blog in Brazil.

Fleet is a new Stories-like sharing format that allows users to post content that disappears after 24-hours. In contrast to regular Tweets, Fleets can’t receive Likes, Replies or Retweets, which is quite similar to Instagram and Snapchat Stories.

Currently, selected Twitter users in Brazil will get to test the new Fleets feature. To compose a Fleet, users will simply click on the “+” button on their profile, after which they will see a rounded profile icon right at the top of their Timeline on Twitter’s mobile app. Anyone can post videos of up to 2 minutes and 20 seconds in length (or 512MB) or publish videos of up to 10 minutes in length.

This new feature has made #RipTwitter trend globally, as most users are not in support of the new feature. Check out some tweets from concerned users:
